Presentation Skills Course (2 days)
Aims & Objectives
At the end of this program you will be able to:
- Be able to understand the principles of workplace training;
- Be able to list and describe the main factors essential to
making a successful presentation;
- Be able to list the specific improvements you can make to
improve your own presentation skills;
- To individually develop and identify presentation competencies
including eye contact, energy, movement and related non-verbal
issues;
- Be able to research prepare and design business and technical
presentation that are appropriately structured and audience focused;
- To reduce overall nervousness when presenting to improve both
the impact and effectiveness of presentations;
- To appropriately balance and incorporate audio visual aids
Content:
This workshop is to help you become a more dynamic speaker and
presenter. This workshop will teach you how to improve your
presentations and improve your confidence.
Course content includes:
- Basics of workplace training
- How to properly structure your presentations
- Physical and mental techniques to reduce anxiety and fear.
Specific remedies for a wobbly voice, shaky hands, and a pounding
heart
- How to use visual aids, including how to properly use an
overhead projector and a PowerPoint™ presentation.
- How your body language effects your presentation
- The difference between teaching children and adults
- Body Movement / Facial Expressions / Eye Contact / Walking
Patterns
- Tips on proper dress for a speaker
- How to prepare for your talk
- The proper structure of a presentation
- How to improve your vocal variety
- How to handle a hostile audience
- Techniques for handling questions
- Your practice presentations
Participants’ work through the presentation techniques and are given
opportunities to practice their new skills at each stage. Topics will be
presented by a series of short lectures and group discussions. Each
participant will deliver a taped presentation that will be
professionally critiqued by the instructor. In addition, group
discussions will offer additional group feedback.
